Dynamic Reconfiguration (DR)
The Dynamic Reconfiguration (DR) software is part of the Solaris OS. With DR you
can dynamically reconfigure CPU/Memory boards in order to safely remove them
or install them into a system while the Solaris OS is running. DR is performed with
minimum disruption to user processes running in the system.
The process of replacing a board while the system is still running is called hot-
plugging. DR provides this software hot-plug support. For more information on DR,
refer to Chapter 1, "Overview" and Chapter 9 "CPU/Memory Board Replacement
and Dynamic Reconfiguration (DR)" in the system administration manual.

Sun Management Center Software and SunSolve
OnLine
The Sun Management Center software, which monitors system functioning, is not
supported on this system.
1.4.4
OpenBoot Firmware
The OpenBoot firmware is executed immediately after you turn on the system. The
primary tasks of the OpenBoot firmware are:
Testing and initializing the system hardware

Determining the system hardware
■
Booting the operating system
■
Providing interactive debugging facilities for testing hardware and software
