6. Disconnect the DVD-ROM drive from the backplane connector. Firmly pull the
DVD-ROM drive from the front of the system (
7. Place the drive on an ESD mat.
8. If required, install a replacement DVD-ROM drive. Insert the DVD-ROM drive
into the system until the latch engages.
9. Close the media bay access door and tighten the latch securing screw.
10. Detach the antistatic wrist strap.
11. Close the front door of the system.

DVD-ROM Backplane

Caution – Use proper ESD grounding techniques when handling components. Wear
an antistatic wrist strap and use an ESD-protected mat. Store ESD-sensitive
components in its ESD-safe packaging box before placing them on any surface.
Caution – This procedure requires the system to be extended out of the system on
its slides. You must extend the system cabinet stabilizer bar.

3. Disconnect the DVD-ROM drive data/power cable from the IB_SSC board and
from the DVD-ROM drive (
Caution – Do not disconnect the SCSI data cable end that connects the removable
media backplane. That cable end is soldered and cannot be removed.
