Paper Feed Problems
If the machine is operating but paper will not feed or paper jams occur frequently, check the condi-
tion of the machine and paper.
Problems
Paper does not feed
smoothly.
Frequent jams.
Multiple sheets of paper
are fed at one time.
Paper gets wrinkles.
The printed paper is
curled.
Images are printed diago-
nally to the pages.
• Use only supported paper types. See "3. Print Media" for the supported
paper types.
• Load paper correctly, making sure that the paper guides are properly ad-
justed. See "2. Setting up the Printer" for Loading Paper.
• If the paper is curled, straighten the paper.
• Take out the paper from tray and fan it well. Then,reverse the top and bottom
of the paper, and put it in the tray.
• If there are gaps between the paper and paper guides, adjust the guides to
remove the gaps.
• Avoid printing on both sides of the paper when printing images that contain
large areas of solid color, which consume a lot of toner.
• Use only supported paper types. See "3. Print Media" for the supported
paper types.
• Load paper only as high as the upper limit markings on the paper guide.
• Fan the stack of paper well before loading it in the tray. Make sure that the
edges are even by tapping the stack on a flat surface such as a desk.
• Make sure that the paper guides are in the right position.
• Use only supported paper types. See "3. Print Media" for the supported
paper types.
• Load paper only as high as the upper limit markings on the paper guide.
• Check that paper was not added while there was still some left in the tray.
Before adding new paper, remove the remaining paper from the feed tray
and add them to new stack, fan the paper again ,then put it in the tray.
• Paper is damp. Use only paper that has been stored properly.
• Paper is too thin. See "3. Print Media" for the supported paper types.
• If there are gaps between the paper and the paper guide, adjust the paper
guides to remove the gaps.
• Load the paper upside down in the feed tray.
• Paper is damp. Use only paper that has been stored properly.
• If there are gaps between the paper and the paper guide, adjust the paper
guide to eliminate the gap.
