30 AP overview

Cable ports

The AP-2330 has one RJ-45 port. (See
to a WSS. The connection can be direct to a WSS or indirect through an intermediate Layer 2 or Layer 3 network.
The AP-2330 receives power and data through the RJ-45 port. Use the supplied ferrite beaded Category 5 (Cat-5) cable
with straight-through signaling and standard RJ-45 connectors to connect an AP-2330 to a WSS or other device in the
network. The installation must use the included 4m (13 ft.) ferrite beaded Cat-5 cable. The end of the cable closest to the
molded-in ferrite bead must be inserted into the AP-2330. The cable does not need to be stretched to its full 4m length (it
can remain coiled).
The AP-2330A/2330B has two RJ-45 ports. (See
connections to a WSS. The connections can be direct to a WSS or indirect through an intermediate Layer 2 or Layer 3
network.
The AP-2330A/2330B receives power and data through the RJ-45 ports. Use a Category 5 (Cat-5) cable with
straight-through signaling and standard RJ-45 connectors to connect an AP-2330A/2330B to a WSS or other device in
the network. The AP-2330A/2330B must be operated with a CAT-5 Ethernet cable installed on each activated
AP-2330A/2330B Ethernet Port to ensure compliance with the Class B emissions standards. Failure to comply with this
installation requirement may cause the device to operate in excess of the allowable emissions limits.
The AP-2330/2330A/2330B supports the IEEE 802.3af standard, and can also receive PoE from Nortel switches and
Nortel-approved power injectors.

Kensington security slot

Models AP-2330/2330A/2330B have a slot to attach a Kensington security cable. The cable is not included with the
AP-2330/2330A/2330B.

You can mount an AP access point on any of the following types of surfaces:
• Suspended T-bar ceiling
• Junction box
• Solid surface wall or ceiling
• Tabletop
