Checking the Cooling System
and Coolant Level
Service Interval: Before each use or daily Check the level of
the coolant level before the engine is first
started and daily thereafter.
WARNING
If the engine has been running, the radiator will be
pressurized and the coolant inside will be hot. If
you remove the cap, coolant may spray out, causing
severe burns.
• Do not remove the recovery-tank cap to check
coolant levels.
• Do not remove the recovery-tank cap when the
engine is hot. Allow the engine to cool for at
least 15 minutes or until the radiator cap is cool
enough to touch without burning your hand.
1. Check the level of the coolant in the expansion tank
(Figure
73).
Note: The coolant level should be between the marks
on the side of the tank.
