Removing the Battery
1. Position the sprayer on a level surface, set the parking
brake, stop the pump, stop the engine, and remove the
ignition key.
2. The battery is located on the right hand side of the
machine behind the pump (Figure 55).

3. Disconnect the negative (black) ground cable from the
battery post.
WARNING
Incorrect battery cable routing could damage
the sprayer and cables causing sparks. Sparks
can cause the battery gasses to explode,
resulting in personal injury.
• Always disconnect the negative (black)
battery cable before disconnecting the
positive (red) cable.
• Always reconnect the positive (red) battery
cable before reconnecting the negative
(black) cable.

2. Retainer
WARNING
Battery terminals or metal tools could short
against metal sprayer components causing
sparks. Sparks can cause the battery gasses to
explode, resulting in personal injury.
• When removing or installing the battery,
do not allow the battery terminals to touch
any metal parts of the sprayer.
• Do not allow metal tools to short between
the battery terminals and metal parts of
the sprayer.
• Always keep the battery strap in place to
protect and secure the battery.
4. Disconnect the positive (red) cable from the battery
post.
5. Remove the battery retainer and fasteners (Figure 55).
6. Remove the battery.
Installing the Battery
Service Interval: Every 50 hours—Check the battery cable
connections.
1. Set the battery on the battery box so that the battery
posts are toward the front of the sprayer.
2. Install the battery retainer and secure it with the
fasteners you removed previously (Figure 55).
Important: Always keep the battery retainer in
place to protect and secure the battery.
3. Connect the positive (red) cable to the positive (+)
battery post and the negative (black) cable to the
negative (-) battery post using the bolts and wing nuts.
Slide the rubber boot over the positive battery post.
4. Install the battery cover and secure it with the 2 knobs
(Figure 55).
Checking the Electrolyte Level
Service Interval: Every 50 hours
Note: When the machine is in storage check the battery
electrolyte level every 30 days.
1. Loosen the knobs on the sides of the battery box and
remove the battery cover (Figure 55).
2. Remove the filler caps. If the electrolyte is not up to
the fill line, add the required amount of distilled water;
refer to Adding Water to the Battery.
