Printer Part Names and Functions The name and function of each part is described below. Front View (1) PHS door Open to remove a paper jam from the transport unit or to clean inside the printer.

    Before Using the Printer Operation Panel (1) DATA lamp Lights while the printer is operating. Flashes while the printer is receiving print data or during printer reset processing. (2) ERROR lamp Lights when an error occurs. Lights when paper runs out or other operations are required. STANDBY button/lamp Switches the printer between normal operation mode (printing can start immediately) and the sleep mode (Power-saving mode).

Opening the Printer Driver Dialog Box Open the printer driver dialog box when you need to set up various print functions.

    How to Use the Printer Driver Adjusting Brightness The Brightness adjustment allows you to adjust the overall brightness level of an image if it is too dark or too bright. This adjustment changes the mid-range colors without affecting the darkest or brightest areas of the image. There are three settings.

    How to Use the Printer Driver Adjusting Sharpness Adjust the sharpness of an image if you feel that the overall appearance of the print result is too fuzzy. You can adjust the sharpness of the image by dragging the slider through four settings, left to 0 or right to 3.

    How to Use the Printer Driver Single Color Printing Use the Single Color setting to select one color to be used to print a color original. To print an original in one color, click the Single Color Setting checkbox on, and select the color to use.     How to Use the Printer Driver Adjusting Color Balance and Density Use Color Balance to adjust the balance of each color (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) and the overall density of the image.     How to Use the Printer Driver Using Special Settings Normally, you will not need to use Special Settings. Use these special settings only to adjust the printer when it is not performing well in extreme conditions. Two items are provided under the Special Settings. High Precision Text Mode Select to correct black characters that appear too bold because of ink running and spreading.

Start During Printing The Status Monitor automatically starts and displays when a print job starts.

    How to Use the Status Monitor Viewing the Print Status Use these features to monitor the progress of print jobs. Number of Pages Displays the number of document pages to print. Copies Displays the progress of printing the number of copies specified. When printing 10 copies of a 3-page document, for example, while the first page is printed you will see 0001/0010 to 0010/0010.

    How to Use the Status Monitor Viewing the Printer Status Use these features to monitor the status of the printer. There are three types of images to keep you informed about the status of the printer. Displayed to indicate the normal mode. The printer is in the online mode and ready to print.

    Please remember that cleaning consumes ink. Clean the printhead only when necessary. ● If normal cleaning does not solve the problem, then use the printhead deep cleaning. Deep Cleaning Display the Utility sheet in the Canon CX 350 Properties dialog box then click Cleaning.

    Deep cleaning cannot be done during a print job or when an error is occurring. ● Deep cleaning consumes more ink than normal cleaning. Clean the printhead only when necessary. Display the Utility sheet in the Canon CX 350 Properties dialog box then click Deep Cleaning.

Deep cleaning begins. ● If deep cleaning fails to solve the problem, the printhead may require replacement, or there could be some other problem. Contact your local dealer or call the nearest Note service center.

    The printhead adjustment cannot be done while the printer is printing or after an error has occurred. Display the Utility sheet in the Canon CX 350 Properties dialog box then click Printhead Position Adjustment. The Printhead Position Adjustment dialog box opens.

The two Printhead Position Adjustment Patterns are printed. After the Printhead Position Adjustment Pattern prints successfully, click the Yes button.

Look at the columns for each color A to E and determine which horizontal line of each column aligns with black scale marks, and check the number of the line.

The position of the printhead is adjusted. Click the Print button again to print the patterns and confirm that the printhead is adjusted correctly.

    For details about how to obtain new ink cartridges, please contact the dealer where you purchased the printer or the nearest service center. ● To maintain the best printing quality, please use only CX 350 ink cartridges.
