ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM)
Symptom
Brake light signal is not received properly when
main switch is turned to "ON" (brake light cir-
cuit, or front or rear brake light switch circuit).
Check or maintenance job
• Replace if there is an open or short circuit.
• Between ABS ECU coupler and brake light relay
coupler.
(yellow–yellow)
• Between rear brake light switch coupler and
brake switch relay coupler.
(green/white–green/white)
• Between front brake light switch coupler and
brake switch relay coupler.
(green/yellow–green/yellow)
• Between brake switch relay coupler and brake
light relay coupler.
(light green/black–light green/black)
Use compressed air to blow out the water.
Symptom
Brake light signal is not received properly while
vehicle is traveling (brake light circuit, or front
or rear brake light switch circuit).
Check or maintenance job
• Check the brake light. Repair or replace the
tail/brake light if necessary.
Refer to "CHECKING THE BULBS AND BULB
SOCKETS" on page 8-172.
• Check the brake switch and brake light relays.
Refer to "CHECKING THE RELAYS" on page
8-177.
• Check the rear brake light switch for proper ad-
justment.
Refer to "ADJUSTING THE REAR BRAKE
LIGHT SWITCH" on page 3-30.
• Check the front and rear brake light switches.
Refer to "CHECKING THE SWITCHES" on page
8-169.
• Check the coupler for any pins that may be pulled
out.
• Check the locking condition of the coupler.
• If there is a malfunction, replace the wire harness
it and connect the coupler securely.
TIP
Turn the main switch to "OFF" before disconnecting
or connecting a coupler.
