Configuring a 10/100Base-TX Port

To configure a 10/100Base-TX port, refer to Table 2 and Table 3 and Figure 8
and Figure 9 and do the following:
1. Select the port speed and duplex mode control for the 10/100Base-TX port.
If the speed and duplex mode of the port is controlled by auto-negotiation,
set the AUTO NEG switch for the port to the DOWN position (Auto-
negotiate Only). Then go to Step 4.
If the speed and duplex mode of the port is not controlled by auto-
negotiation, set the AUTO-NEG switch for the port to the UP position
(User-Configurable). Then go to Step 2.
2. Set the SPEED switch for the specified port to the same speed as the far
end of the network connection. For 10 Mbps, set the SPEED switch to the
UP position; for 100 Mbps, set the SPEED switch to the DOWN position.
3. Set the DUPLEX MODE switch for the specified port to the same duplex
mode as the far end of the network connection. For half-duplex, set the
DUPLEX MODE switch to the UP position; for full-duplex, set the
DUPLEX MODE switch to the DOWN position.
4.
Power on the switch. Connect the power adapter or re-install the switch in
the AT-MCR12 rack-mount chassis.
End stations used with the switch must operate in the same duplex
mode (either both full-duplex or both half-duplex).
5. For the AT-FS201 or AT-FS202, plug the 100Base-FX (ST/SC) fiber cable
into Port 1.
Plug the 10/100Base-TX twisted pair cable(s) into the RJ45 connector(s)
(Port 1 for the AT-FS201 and ports 1 and 2 for the AT-FS203).
6. Verify that the near-end node transmitter (TX) is connected to the far end
node receiver (RX) and vice versa on the fiber segment.
7. If you are making a direct connection to a workstation using straight-
through cable, set the MDI/MDI-X switch to the MDI-X position.
If you are connecting the switch to a hub or to another switch with a
straight-through cable, set the MDI/MDI-X switch to the MDI position. See
Figure 10.
