Caratteristiche del freno a disco
I freni a disco, se si comparano con
quelli a tamburo, hanno le seguenti carat-
teristiche e vantaggi:
- L'evacuazione di calore dalle superfici di
attrito è molto efficace, poichè i dischi
girano a contatto diretto con l'aria. Per
questo motivo abbiamo sempre una
capacità di frenata stabile, anche
quando si usa ripetutamente il freno ad
alte velocità. Detto in altro modo, il
rischio di "fadding" è molto inferiore.
- Nessuno dei pezzi del freno a disco è
esposto a nessuna deformazione dovuta
alle temperature elevate.
- Il cambio dei tamponi frenanti è semplice
e non richiede regolazioni complicate.
- Si assicura un costante funzionamento
dei freni poichè, pur essendo i dischi
bagnati in tempo piovoso, la capacità di
recupero della forza di frenata è
eccellente, dovuto alle caratteristiche
d'estrema pressione dei tamponi
frenanti.
- Possiede un tatto soave poichè ha una
piccola, ma sufficente, zona d'attrito.

Characteristics of the disc brake

In comparison with drum brakes, disc
brakes have the following characteristics
and advantages:
- The heat dissipation from the friction
surfaces is very efficient, since the discs
turn in direct contact with the air. For this
reason the braking capacity is always
stable, even when the brake is applied
repeatedly at high speeds. In other
words, the risk of brake fading is much
lower.
- None of the parts of a disc brake are
exposed to deformation through high
temperature.
- Changing the brake pads is simple and
does not require complicated
adjustments.
- The constant operation of the brakes is
assured, since even when the disc is wet
when riding in the rain, the recovery of
braking force is excellent, due to the
very high pressure of the brake pads.
- The disc brake has a smooth action,
since it has only one small but sufficient
area of friction.

- Keines der Teile, aus denen sich die
Scheibenbremse zusammensetzt, ist der
Verformung durch hohe Temperaturen
ausgesetzt.
- Das Auswechseln der Bremsbeläge ist
einfach und erfordert keinerlei
komplizierten Einstellungen.
- Eine beständige Funktion der Bremsen
ist sichergestellt, denn sogar wenn die
Scheibe beim Fahren im Regen naß
wird, ist die Fähigkeit, die Bremsleistung
wiederherzustellen, ausgezeichnet. Dies
ist den extremen Druckeigenschaften
der Bremsbeläge zu verdanken.
