STARTER SYSTEM AND SIDE STAND/IGNITION SECURITY SYSTEM

STARTER SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The starter system is represented by the diagram below. It is comprised of a starter motor, clutch lever position
switch, starter relay, starter button, engine kill button, right hand command, side stand relay, side stand switch,
gearchange position switch, ignition switch (IG) and the battery. Pressing the starter button (situated on the right
hand switch assembly of the handlebars) agitates the relay that causes the contact points to close that connect the
starter motor to the battery. The starter motor absorbs approximately 80 amperes when starting the engine.
