How to RIP a CD

Use RIP CD when you want to transfer an individual
track on a CD, or transfer an entire CD to the HD.
RIP CD permits changes to the recording format (RIP
a standard CD to MP3), channel(s) recorded, and/or
bitrate. RIP CD records a copy of the ripped material
into a new folder on the CDR420 HD within a folder
named RIPPED CD. You are prompted to give the
new folder a name. You can burn a new CD from the
HD immediately or later.

How to RIP an Entire CD

Quick instructions RIP entire CD:
a. Insert original CD
b. Press UTILITY MENU 2x .... CDR FUNCTIONS
Press Jog Wheel to enter........ CDR FUNCTIONS
Press Jog Wheel to enter........ CDR FUNCTIONS
c. Turn Jog Wheel until ................................. RIP CD
d. Press Jog Wheel .........................RIP: ENTIRE CD
e. Press Jog Wheel ....................REC FORMAT:MP3
Turn Jog Wheel to select MP3 or PCM
f. Press Jog Wheel ..... CHANNEL:STEREO/MONO
g. Press Jog Wheel. If MP3 ........................KBPS: 64
Turn Jog Wheel to select .
h. Press Jog Wheel .................... RENAME FOLDER
Press Jog Wheel .........................enter folder name
Click Jog Wheel .........................................go to i
Turn Jog Wheel ............................................go to i
i. ...................................................START RIPPING
Press Jog Wheel ..................... ARE YOU SURE:N
Turn Jog Wheel ................................................... Y
Press Jog Wheel ............................................... wait
j. ............................................................... Idle Mode
NOTE:
The RIP entire CD procedure below assumes all factory defaults
and starting with no CD in the CD drive.
1. From the Idle screen
press and release the
UTILITY MENU but-
ton.
2. Turn the Jog Wheel so
CDR FUNCTIONS is
displayed,
then press and release
the Jog Wheel so NEW
CD PROJECT is dis-
played.
(or INSERT CD will be prompted)

3. Turn the Jog Wheel so
RIP CD is displayed.
4. Press and release the
Jog Wheel.
RIP: ENTIRE CD is displayed.
5. Press and release the
Jog Wheel. INSERT
ORIG CD is displayed.
6. Insert the CD you want
to RIP. REC FOR-
MAT: is displayed.
Turn the Jog Wheel to toggle between MP3 and
PCM. Then push and release the Jog Wheel.
NOTE:
The CDR420 cannot convert MP3 fi les to PCM.
7. CHANNEL: is dis-
played. This display
shows the CHANNEL
of the track to be ripped. This setting cannot be
changed. It is simply displayed as a reference.
8. If REC FORMAT
selected in step 6 was
MP3, KBPS is dis-
played. If REC FORMAT selected in step 6 was
PCM, skip to step 9.
If Stereo turn the Jog Wheel to tab through 64, 80,
128, 160, 256, and 320.
If Mono turn the Jog Wheel to tab through 32, 40,
64, 80, 128, 160.
Then press and release the Jog Wheel.
9. RENAME FOLDER is
displayed.
Press and release the Jog Wheel to begin renaming
the folder*, or turn the Jog Wheel to skip renam-
ing the folder.
*Only the folder name (folder stored within the RIPPED CD folder
on the CDR420 HD) can be renamed at this time. Tracks within
the folder are named 01, 02, ... You can use EDIT MENU / EDIT
TAGS / TRACK NAME to rename them later.
