A
accessory connector port A
socket on the bottom of the
phone where you can attach
accessories such as a travel
charger, desktop charger, auto
accessory adapter or data
accessories.
airtime The amount of time you
spend using a cellular or satellite
system. Especially, the time
between successfully placing a
call and terminating a call.
AMPS Advanced Mobile Phone
Service. An analog network
protocol.
antenna The devices on your
phone that send and receive
satellite or cellular signals.
Auto Accessory Adapter An
accessory device that allows you
to power your phone and charge
any attached batteries from a
car's cigarette lighter.

CDMA Code Division Multiple
Access. A digital technology.
cellular A wireless personal
telecommunications system
which uses terrestrial base
station controllers.
cellular carrier One of several
competing organizations in a
given geographic area that owns
and operates a cellular system.
Cellular Cassette An optional
module that is inserted into the
portable phone and gives it
access to the cellular system.
cellular mode
phone is in this mode it is
accessing the cellular system.
You must have the appropriate
cellular cassette installed.
cellular system The cellular
equipment in a given geographic
area that relays signals to and
from individual cellular
telephones and the landline
telephone system.
clear-line-of sight In order for
your phone to communicate to
the satellite network, your
antenna must have a clear view
of the sky.

DTMF See Dual Tone Multi-

dual mode phone A phone
