MIDDLE GEAR
d. Press each bearing into the universal joint
using a suitable socket.
NOTE:
The bearing must be inserted far enough into
the universal joint so that the circlip can be
installed.
e. Install the circlips 2 into the groove of each
bearing.

6. Install:
• drive shaft coupling
• washer
• nut 1
97 Nm (9.7 m · kg, 70 ft · lb)
NOTE:
Use the coupling gear/middle shaft tool 2 to
hold the drive shaft coupling.

INSTALLING THE MIDDLE DRIVE SHAFT

1. Tighten:
• middle drive pinion gear nut 1
145 Nm (14.5 m · kg, 105 ft · lb)
NOTE:
Secure the middle drive shaft in the vise with a
clean rag.
2. Lock the threads with a drift punch.
