Network Connection: Windows 98

The section describes how to set the network connection if your computer running Windows 98.

Network Settings

In this section, you set "TCP/IP Settings," and complete "Checking Computer Name and Workgroup"
required for the network connection.
TCP/IP Settings
Click [Start] → [Settings] → [Control Panel].

Double-click the [Network] icon. [Network] appears.

Perform the following steps.
Click [TCP/IP].
Click [Properties].
Critical Points
If you have more than one [TCP/IP...] entry, select [TCP/IP → Intersil PRISM Wireless LAN
PCI Card]. [TCP/IP Properties] appears.

Set an IP address. (When you are done, ask your network administrator to check the
setting).
AdHoc Network: Select [IP address], and enter a value for [IP address] and [Subnet Mask].
Infrastructure Network: Select [Obtain an IP address automatically].

Click [OK]. [Network] appears again.
In the next step, you will check the computer name and workgroup.
Checking the Computer Name and Workgroup

Click the [Identification] tab on the [Network] window.
Critical Points
If this tab is not found on the [Network] window, click [Start] → [Settings] → [Control Panel],
and double-click the [Network] icon.

Check the entry for [Computer name] and [Workgroup]. Ask your network administrator
and check the setting, if you have a network administrator.
