8 Engine control warning lamp
This lamp comes on when the starter key is turned
to "ON". It should go out when the engine starts.
8.1
Illumination of red lamp
Illumination of the red engine control warning lamp
indicates a fault in the electronic control circuitry of
the fuel injection system. The engine output may be
limited depending on the location of the fault.
If the lamp illuminates, place the starter switch in
"ACC" or "LOCK" position for 5 seconds or longer to

reset the computer and then restart the engine. If
the lamp stays off, there is no problem. If the lamp
illuminates again, stop the engine and contact the
nearest authorized dealer.

Illumination of amber lamp
Illumination of the amber engine control warning
lamp indicates a fault in the electronic control cir-
cuitry of the fuel injection system that has caused
the system's functionality to decrease. If the lamp
illuminates, place the starter switch in "ACC" or
"LOCK" position for 5 seconds or longer to reset the
computer and then restart the engine. If the lamp
stays off, there is no problem. If the lamp illuminates
again, have your vehicle inspected at an authorized
dealer in the earliest opportunity.

9 ABS warning lamp

This lamp comes on when the starter key is turned
to "ON". It should go out a few seconds later. If the
lamp comes on again, this indicates there is a mal-
function in the antilock braking system (ABS).
Should this lamp illuminate during driving, stop the
vehicle in a safe place and perform the following
inspection.
1. Turn the starter key to the "OFF" position and
then to the "ON" position again.
2. Determine the system condition as follows:

The system is normal if the warning lamp goes
out a few seconds later.
The system is faulty if the warning lamp stays on
for longer than a few seconds or it goes off but
comes on again.
The system is normal if the warning lamp goes
off in a few seconds after the starter key is
turned to "ON". The system is also normal if the
warning lamp does not go off a few seconds but
then goes off as soon as the vehicle is started.
3. If the system is found to be faulty, have the sys-
tem repaired by an authorized dealer as soon as
possible.
NOTE:
Even with the ABS faulty and the warning lamp
remaining lit, the normal brake system is still func-
tioning satisfactorily. Only the ABS function is lost.
Drive with great care on slippery surfaces with the
vehicle in this condition.
