NOTE:
For safety, the engine in a manual transmission
vehicle cannot be started unless the gearshift lever
is in the neutral position.
In an automatic transmission vehicle, the engine
cannot be started unless the range selector lever is
in "P" or "N" position. It is safer to start the engine
with the range selector lever in the "P" position.
Start the engine with the range selector lever in the
"N" position only when absolutely necessary, for
example, if the engine stops while the vehicle is on
a level crossing.

2 Starting procedure

1. Turn the starter switch to the "ON" position.
