Problem
Burner will not light using knobs or
igniter
Burner will not light using a match
Sudden drop in gas flow or reduced
flame height
Irregular flame pattern, flame does
not run the full length of burner
Flames turn yellow or orange
Flame blows out

TROUBLESHOOTING

Possible cause
Wires or electrode is covered by
cooking residue
Electrode and burners are wet
Ignition electrode cracked or
broken; sparking where cracked
No gas flow
Coupling nut and regulator are not
fully connected
Blockage of the gas flow
Burner disconnected at valve
Spider webs or insect nest in
venturi
Burner ports clogged or blocked
Out of, or nearly out of propane
Excess‐flow safety device may have
been activated
Burner ports are clogged or
blocked.
New burner may have residual
manufacturing oils
Spider webs or insect nest in
venturi
Food residue, grease or seasoning
salt on burner
Poor connection of valve to burner
venturi
High or gusting winds
Low on propane gas
Excess‐flow valve tripped

Prevention/Cure
Clean wire or electrode using a
cloth and rubbing alcohol
Wipe with dry cloth
Replace electrode
Check if propane tank is empty. If
not, refer to Excess‐flow Safety
Valve Reset Procedure
Unscrew coupling nut about 1/2 to
3/4 turn counterclockwise to
disengage, then restart threading
the nut. Tighten by hand ONLY, do
not use tools.
Check burner tube and hose for
kinks
Reconnect
Clean venturi
Clean burner ports
Replace LP tank
Refer to Excess‐flow Safety Valve
Reset Procedure
Clean burner ports
Burn grill for 15 minutes with the lid
closed
Clean venturi
Clean burner
Connect valve and burner venturi
properly
Turn front of grill to face wind or
increase flame height
Replace or refill propane tank
Refer to Excess‐flow Safety Valve
Reset Procedure
