The control lever is inoperative unless the
free accel lever is in the fully closed position.

 The engine must be at idling speed when
the Shift Lever is moved from Forward to
Reverse.
 Do not increase the engine speed
unnecessarily while reversing.

CAUTION
Be sure to warm up engine well before
starting cruise. Operating cold engine may
cause damage to your motor.

Note
Idle speed may be higher during warming
up of engine. If shifted to Forward or
Reverse during warming up, it may be diffi-
cult to shift back to neutral. In such case,
stop engine, shift to neutral, and restart
engine to warm up.

Note
Frequent shifting to forward or reverse can
accelerate wear or degradation of parts. In
such case, replace gear oil earlier than the
period specified.

WARNING
During shallow water operation, be careful
not to place your hand between the swivel
bracket and the stern bracket.
Be sure to tilt the outboard motor down
slowly.

Slow down to trolling speed, and shift into
neutral before setting outboard motor to
shallow water drive position.
