WARNING
Be sure that outboard motor is secured
to transom or service stand, or acciden-
tal drop or fall of outboard motor could
lead to severe personal injury.
Be sure to lock outboard motor if it is
tilted up, or accidental fall of outboard
motor could lead to severe personal
injury.
Do not go under outboard motor tilted
up and locked, or accidental fall of out-
board motor could lead to severe per-
sonal injury.

CAUTION
Do not unscrew the oil plug with the out-
board motor tilted down. Pressurized oil in
the oil tank may spurt out.
2. Recommended oil
Use an automatic transmission fluid or
equivalent.
Recommended oils are as shown
below.
ATF Dexron III
3. Air purging from the Power Trim and
Tilt unit.
Entrapped air in the Power Trim & Tilt
unit will cause poor tilting movement.
With the engine mounted on the boat,
set the manual release valve to the
Manual side, and tilt the engine manu-
ally up/down 5-6 times while checking
the oil level. When done, close the
valve by turning it clockwise towards
the Power side.
