Serial I/F Test

1)
Function:
This mode allows problems with the optional Serial Interface to be diagnosed by isolating
the printer from the host computer. With the test connector installed the printer transmits
and receives its own signal and verifies proper operation.
2)
Start:
(a)
Disconnect the l/F cable and install the test connector.
(b)
Select Diagnostic Test = Yes in MENU mode.
(c)
Power the printer off; when the printer is powered-on test will start.
3)
Stop:
(a)
Press the MODE switch.
4)
Test items:
(a)
Transmit "MARK" signals DTR, RTS, and SSD.
If a CTS, DSR or CD signal is "SPACE", the test fails.
(b)
Transmit "SPACE" signals DTR, RTS, and SSD.
If a CTS, DSR or CD signal is "MARK", the test fails.
(c)
Transmit ASCII codes 20H—7EH on TD; RD receives the signal and prints the
data.
At this time, parity, framing, or over-run errors are not detected.
