SETTING OFF: Checks before setting off

Before any long journey it is a good idea to give your car a brief check up.
It could
save
you a lot of trouble during your journey.
Check the levels
(see pages 78 to 83)
Engine oil
Coolant
Brake fluid
Windscreen washer and headlight washer reservoir
Power steering fluid
Check the tyre pressures
A label fixed to the edge of the driver's door indicates the tyre pressures.
Insufficient pressure
=
danger!
Excessive pressure
=
discomfort.
Check the operation of the lights, brake lights and direction indicators.
Changing a bulb (see pages 102 to 104).
Always keep a spare set of bulbs and fuses in your vehicle.
Check that your children are properly secured and check the attachment of the
child seats.
