Driving with the message
your brake system checked immediately.
Do not add brake fluid before checking the brake system. Overfilling the brake fluid reservoir can
result in spilling brake fluid on hot engine parts and the brake fluid catching fire. You can be
seriously burned.
Possible causes/consequences and M Solutions
The display message is only shown while the vehicle is in motion.
The yellow ! warning lamp lights up and the red F (USA
only)/ ! (Canada only) indicator lamp flashes.
It is not possible to apply the electric parking brake manually.
Shift the transmission to P.

Visit a qualified specialist workshop.

You attempted to release the electric parking brake while the
ignition was switched off.
SmartKey: turn the SmartKey to position 1 in the ignition lock.
