CHECKING THE COOLANT LEVEL
1. Stand the motorcycle on a level surface.
S Place the motorcycle on a suitable stand.
S Make sure that the motorcycle is upright.
2. Remove:
S side cover (right)
3. Check:
S coolant level
The coolant level should be between the
maximum level mark a and minimum lev-
el marks b .
Below the minimum level mark ! Add the
recommended coolant to the proper level.
CAUTION:
S Adding water instead of coolant lowers
the antifreeze content of the coolant. If
water is used instead of coolant, check
and correct the antifreeze concentra-
tion of the coolant.
S Use only distilled water. Soft water may
be used if distilled water is not avail-
able.
4. Start the engine, warm it up for several min-
utes, and then turn it off.
5. Check:
S coolant level
NOTE:
Before checking the coolant level, wait a few
minutes until it settles.
6. Install:
S side cover (right)

1. Remove:
S seat
S fuel tank
2. Check:
S radiator 1
S radiator inlet hose 2
S radiator outlet hose 3
S water jacket outlet joint 4
S water jacket inlet joint 5
S oil cooler inlet hose 6
S oil cooler outlet hose 7
Cracks/damage ! Replace.
Refer to "COOLING SYSTEM" in chapter
5.
3. Install:
S fuel tank
S seat
CHK
ADJ
