Obtaining the Secret Key

Rev 1.00
This chapter covers how to authenticate images recorded on an HRDV unit using a
remote PC running Remote Access Software (RAS).
All HRDV units record video clips in a proprietary, secure format. During the recording
process, the HRDV embeds the electronic serial number unique to the unit and a
checksum into each image. Each image can be accessed to verify authenticity using a
remote PC running the Remote Access Software (RAS) application.
To verify image integrity, you need a secret key available by calling Honeywell Technical
Service. The secret key is unique for each HRDV unit. This key is entered into the
appropriate RAS field to verify that the image is unaltered and original.
To acquire the secret key, please follow these steps:
1.
Make a note of the serial number of the original HRDV unit. You can find the serial
number either by:
Accessing the HRDV via RAS (Stop Recording). On the Setup menu, select System
Setup
System Info
Via the HRDV front panel (MENU

2.
