The following table describes the fields on the Zone Layout screen.
Description
Assign each zone its own sensitivity using the sliders.
Set the target size for each zone and each camera. The trigger size buttons show
the number and arrangement of zone squares that must be active to trigger a
motion alarm.
Assign a motion direction for each zone.
Enable (default) or disable the test beeper. Enabling the test beeper causes it to
beep when motion is detected.
Enabling the Reverse function causes the system to beep for the selected zones
whenever motion is not detected.
Caution
Set up motion detection with consideration and care to prevent unnecessary
alarms. Moving shadows, sunlight through windows, the moving second hand
of a ticking clock, and so on, can cause unexpected and unwanted alarms if
they are not considered during system setup.
We recommend that you evaluate any motion detection setup for an extended
period of time (24 to 48 hours) to fine tune settings and to verify desired
operation.
The on-board motion detection is well suited to indoor applications.
Outdoor applications are susceptible to the vagaries of nature,
making it more difficult to anticipate all situations. Prior to final
outdoor use, extensive testing under a variety of conditions is
recommended.
The motion detection function is responsive—accurate and quick to detect motion.
However, the more cameras that use motion detection at the same time, the slower the
detection processing speed. If multiple cameras use motion detection simultaneously, we
recommend that you individually review the motion detection for each camera during
various activity periods. This helps you verify that motion detection is performing at the
desired response level.
The Zone screen divides the screen into small squares. To set up zones for all four zones:
1.
Move the cursor to highlight the motion detection screen, then press Enter.
2.
Use the front panel buttons to move to the first square you want to assign to zone 1.
Use Camera button 1 to assign the square you are on to zone 1.
3.
Move to any additional squares you want to assign to zone 1, then press Camera
button 1. You will see zone 1 represented by the squares with the number 1.
4.
To remove a square from zone 1, move to that square and press Camera button 1
again to remove the number 1.
5.
Press Enter when you complete motion zone area 1.
6.
Repeat
step 1
to
step 5
to assign zones 2, 3, and 4.
