FRONT BRAKE

ASSEMBLING AND INSTALLING THE
FRONT BRAKE CALIPER

9 9 Before installation, all internal brake com-
ponents should be cleaned and lubricated
with clean or new brake fluid.
9 9 Never use solvents on internal brake com-
ponents as they will cause the piston seals
to swell and distort.
9 9 Whenever a brake caliper is disassembled,
replace the brake caliper piston seals.
Recommended brake fluid
DOT 3 or 4
1. Install:
9brake caliper 1
(temporarily)
9copper washers
9brake hose 2
9union bolt 3

Proper brake hose routing is essential to
insure safe vehicle operation. Refer to
"CABLE ROUTING".

When installing the brake hose onto the
brake caliper 1 1 , make sure the brake pipe a a
touches the projection b b on the brake
caliper.
2. Remove:
9brake caliper
3. Install:
9brake pad springs
9brake pads
9brake pad retaining pin
9brake caliper
Refer to "REPLACING THE FRONT BRAKE
PADS".
4. Remove:
9headlight assembly
Refer to "REMOVING THE HEADLIGHT
ASSEMBLY" in chapter 3.
