RCS20 M:N Redundancy Switch
Installation
To allow for the easy installation of cables and adequate air circulation through the units, a
minimum of six inches of clearance must be provided at the sides and rear of the units. In
addition, the RCS20 requires a minimum of 1¾" (1 RU) of clearance on top of the unit.
If the Switch is mounted on slide mounts, the cables must be of sufficient length to allow the
units to be pulled forward on the mounts.
Do not mount the RCS20 in an unprotected outdoor location where there is direct contact with
rain, snow, wind or sun. The only tools required for rack mounting the RCS20 are four (4)
customer supplied rack-mounting screws and the appropriate screwdriver. Rack mounting
brackets are an integral part of the front bezel of the unit and are not removable.

Storage

It is recommended that the unit be stored in its original sealed packing. The unit should be stored
in a dry location where the temperature is stable, away from direct contact with rain, snow, wind,
sun, or anything that may cause damage.

Modem Checkout and Initial Power-Up

The following descriptions assume that the RCS20 is installed in a suitable location with AC
power applied to both slide out power supplies. Before initial power-up of the RCS20, the IFS20
and DDS20 must be connected to the RCU20 via the supplied 15-Pin High-Density Female 'D'
Connection Cables.

bank control I/O OR when cabling up to the IFS20 or DDS20 with the
CA3429 cables. Failure to do so can result in damage to the bank
control I/O and cause loss of redundancy in the system.
