On: The signal is displayed in full picture quality using COMPONENT VIDEO

The AV1 Output cannot be changed over to [RGB 1/2 ( without component )].
Select [Video ( with component )].
If the unit is connected to the television set using the S VIDEO OUT or the AV1
terminal, the output is in the Interlace process regardless of the settings.
Progressive cannot be selected if the unit is connected with the HDMI cable.
Television picture in the Progressive setting
The Progressive picture format is set to 16:9. DVD-Video can be displayed
perfectly with a picture format of 16:9. However, video material with a picture
format of 4:3 is stretched to the right and left. If your television can adapt the
picture format for Progressive pictures, select the [On] setting.
TV System
PAL: The unit is connected to a PAL or multi-system television: programmes
recorded with NTSC are played as PAL60.
NTSC: The unit is connected to an NTSC television: programmes recorded with
NTSC are played as NTSC.

HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is a digital interface for audio and video.
HDMI works without data compression so that there is no quality loss from the
system.

Select the screen resolution of your connected television set.
HDMI/Optical
Automatic: The system automatically chooses the setting to match the connected

unit. This setting normally does not need to be changed. If you are not satisfied with
the picture quality, it may help to change this setting.
Only the settings supported by the connected unit can be selected.
RETURN
Aspect for 4:3 Video
Select the aspect for playback of a 4:3 video on the connected 16:9 television.
(Only possible if a HDMI resolution of [720p] or [1080i] has been selected.)
Output depends on the television set.
4:3: Picture is output as original aspect.
16:9: Picture output as 16:9 aspect with side panels.
DigitaI Audio Output
HDMI and Optical: Both outputs are activated with an audio signal.
Optical Only: Only the OPTICAL connection is activated with a signal.
VIERA Link
On: When set to [On], the DVD Recorder can work with connected units.
Off: When HDAVI Control is not being used.
