EasyLink Functions
When you connect the VCR to TV equipped with
T-V Link, EasyLink, MegaLogic, SMARTLINK,
Q-Link, DATA LOGIC, or NEXTVIEWLINK via
fully-wired 21-pin SCART cable (✈P.8), the
following functions are available.
• Direct Recording
• NextView Link
• TV Auto Power ON
• VCR Auto Standby
For details, refer to the instruction manual for
your TV.
The degree of compatibility and available
functions may differ your system.
Direct Recording
You can start recording the programme that you
are watching on your TV with simple operation.
Follow the procedure below to use this function.
1 Press VCR then press MENU.
2 Press 5 or ∞ to select "VCR SET UP" then
press OK/STATUS.
3 Press 5 or ∞ to select
"DIRECT REC" then
press 4 to set to "ON".
4 Press MENU to exit the
menu operations.
5 Press REC/OTR ¶. The
VCR will record the programme you are
currently watching.
• If "DIRECT REC" is set to "OFF", the
REC/OTR ¶ button functions as described
in "Recording". (✈P.23)
• During the Direct Recording "CH_ _"
appears on the display panel.
NexTView Link
You can download the EPG (Electronic Pro-
gramme Guide) information from your TV for
timer-programming on the VCR.
VCR must be switched on during EPG download.
For details, refer to the instruction manual for
your TV.
TV Auto Power ON
You can turn on the TV and set it to video mode
automatically whenever you play a tape.
For details, refer to the instruction manual for
your TV.

VCR Auto Standby
You can use your TV's remote control to turn off
the VCR. For details, refer to the instruction
manual for your TV.
Stabilizing Playback Quality
With this function, you can adjust the picture
vertical stability while playing back a tape.
1 Press VCR.
2 Press MENU.
3 Press 5 or ∞ to select "VCR SET UP" then
press OK/STATUS.
4 Press 5 or ∞ to select
"VIDEO STABILIZER."
5 Press 3. Each time you press the button, the
setting changes:
ON :
Select this to activate Video Stabilizer.
OFF:
Select this to cancel Video Stabilizer.
6 Press MENU.
Notes:
• After watching a tape using this function,
make sure to cancel this function.
• This function has no effect during special
effect playbacks.
• The on-screen status display may jitter
vertically when "VIDEO STABILIZER" is
set to "ON".
