Index Search When you make a recording, the VCR automatically places an index code at the beginning of the recording. Essentially, an index code is a type of “bookmark” for your tape. This feature is useful if you have several different programs recorded on a single tape. Fast forward or rewind to the next or previous index code on the tape by following the steps below. -

62 Playback Options Forward and Reverse Searching During tape playback, press and release the FF : button or the REW(ind) ; button. A fast forward or reverse picture search will begin. Viewing a Still Picture During tape playback, press the STILL/SLOW A still picture will appear on the screen. - Page 63 Viewing a Picture in Slow to Fast Motion During tape playback or Still mode, press the JOG/SHTL (shuttle) button on the remote control. The JOG/SHTL button will light. Next, turn the outer ring (the Shuttle ring) in either direc- tion. The farther the ring is rotated, the faster the search speed. Releasing the ring stops the picture in the Still mode.

64 Tape Manager The Tape Manager will tell you: • on which tape you have recorded programs, • on which tape you have enough blank space for new recordings, and • what recordings are on a tape. Information about every recording made on this VCR will be memo- rized (date, start and stop time, length, and channel). - Page 65 Check Memory Follow the steps below to check the amount of memory used by the VCR for the Tape Manager. When all the memory is used, no more Tape Manager information can be stored. To store more informa- tion, you must first delete some information. Details are on page 72.
