Replacing the Transfer Roller

The transfer roller is the black rubber roller that is
located inside the printer, just below the toner cartridge.
It is part of the Fuser Kit (NEC part # 20-119), and
should be replaced at the same time you replace the
fuser cartridge, i.e., when the
appears on the operator panel display.
Removing the Old Transfer Roller (A)
1.
Turn off the printer power.
2.
Close the multipurpose feeder (remove any paper
first, and remove the envelope feeder if it is
installed).
3.
Press the release button and open the front cover of
the printer.
4.
Remove the toner cartridge.
5.
Use the tool that is provided with the new transfer
roller. Insert it under the flange that is located at the
left end of the old Transfer Roller.

6. Push the tool in until the left end of the old transfer
roller pops out of the notch.
7. Use the tool in the same way to free the right end of
the old transfer roller.
8. Hold onto the ends of the transfer roller and remove
it from your printer.
Installing the New Transfer Roller (B)
1. Hold the new transfer roller so the arrow on the
wrapper points toward the front of the printer.
2. Position the roller so the ends are over the notches
in the frame and the gear end of the shaft is on the
right side, as shown.
3. Push down on both ends of the roller until they each
snap securely into place.
4. Remove the wrapper by pulling the center tab in the
direction shown in the illustration, and discard the
wrapper.
5. Reinstall the toner cartridge and close the front
cover.
