Installing a New Toner Cartridge
Follow these steps to install a new toner cartridge, as
illustrated on the next page.
1. Remove the old toner cartridge from the printer, as
described on page 7-3.
2. Unpack the new toner cartridge from the shipping
box and remove the foil wrapper (A).
3. Gently rock the toner cartridge back and forth
several times to break up any lumps of toner that
have formed inside (B).
4. Place the toner cartridge on a flat surface. Find the
toner seal tape at the end of the cartridge. Pull the
tape straight out to remove the toner seal (C).

5. Hold the toner cartridge as shown in the figure.
Insert the cartridge into the printer guide channels
until the cartridge locks into position (D).
6. Close the front cover (E).
7. Plug in the printer and turn it on.
note:
If any message other than
the printer operator panel, see "Printer Messages" on
page 8-9.
Caution!
Do not open the drum shutter or expose
the toner cartridge to direct sunlight or strong room
light. You should complete the toner cartridge
installation within 5 minutes.
