Characters per inch. A unit for measuring type
cpi
based on the number of characters in one inch. Also
known as pitch.

which your printer can output text and images. The
higher the number, the finer the resolution. The
Silentwriter 1760/1765 can output text at either 300 dpi
or 600 dpi, and graphic images at either 150, 300, or 600
dpi.

electrophotographic (EP) drum
inside the toner cartridge that receives an image of a
page to be printed and transfers it as toner to paper

The imitation of all or part of one system by
another. In this manual, the term is used to describe the
emulation of PCL 5e, PostScript Level 2, and
HP-GL/2 printer languages by the Silentwriter 1760/

envelope feeder
An optional device you can purchase
for the Silentwriter 1760/1765 that enables it to
automatically feed up to 75 envelopes.
A non-printable code used in combination
escape code
with other character sequences to form a command that
controls a printer feature, such as bold and underlined
text or margin settings.
escape sequence
The string of characters that follows
an escape code to form a printer command.
