LESSON 6
Overriding Default Actions
In this lesson, you'll create a DVD with three video clips, which can be viewed in sequence
or individually. You will use two linked menus to provide the navigation. As you work on
this DVD project, you will learn how to do the following:
• Work with multiple menus.
• Set default end actions so that timelines play in sequence.
• Link menus to each other.
• Use the pick whip to create links visually.
• Use the override feature to provide alternative end action behaviors.
• Use the Menus tab of the Project window.
• Make a DVD folder.

Getting started

In previous lessons, you've linked menus to timelines, set end actions to determine what
happens when a timeline has played, and specified a First Play action. Many DVD projects
include multiple menus that link to the same timelines; you may not want the timeline's
behavior to be the same each time. Adobe Encore DVD lets you specify overrides when
the default action is not appropriate.
In this lesson, you'll create a more complex Adobe Encore DVD project, using graphic
and video files included on the Adobe Encore DVD Classroom in a Book DVD. Make sure
you know the location of the files you need for Lesson 6. For help, see "Copying the
Classroom in a Book files" on page 2.
