Considering
Accessibility
In many situations you need
to make your forms compli-
ant with accessibility stand-
ards. One of the key features
of accessibility is appropriate
communication with screen
readers and other devices.
Open the form field's Proper-
ties dialog, and in the Tooltip
field in the General tab, type
a short instruction, such as
"Your month of birth. " With-
out a tooltip, the screen
reader names the type of
form field, and the user has
no means of understand-
ing its purpose. Read more
about accessibility testing
in #48, "Reporting On and
Repairing a Document, " and
more about using form field
descriptions in #49, "Enhanc-
ing PDF Accessibility. "

5. Click "Add another button to group" at the bottom of the pop-up dia-
log to reactivate the Radio Button tool and place it in the location for
the next button. You can use the dotted guidelines to line up the but-
ton on the form. Again, the properties pop-up dialog displays. Type a
new entry in the Button Value field, and repeat adding and configur-
ing the buttons until the set of buttons is finished (Figure 88b). Click
anywhere on the form to deselect the Radio Button tool.

The radio button group is completed.
Tip
If you are building multiple fields of the same type, you can click "Keep
tool selected" on the Form Edit toolbar to place all the fields without rese-
lecting the tool. You won't have the mini-properties dialog display and
will have to configure the options in the Radio Button Properties dialog.
Form fields share many features regardless of the type of form tool you
use, although some configuration options are used for only certain types
of fields. Rather than using the pop-up dialog that displays when you add
a field, you can make the choices in the Properties dialog, which is named
according to the type of field you're configuring.
To open the Properties dialog for a field, choose Properties from a
field's shortcut menu.
