store the droplet and click Save to create it.
When you want to test a file, locate and select the file on your com-
puter. Then drag it to the Droplet icon. Acrobat starts and tests the file.
Depending on the outcome and your settings, the file is processed and
saved, and reports are generated (Figure 43b).

Modifying Droplets
Sometimes your require-
ments change, and you need
to make a change to a drop-
let. It's easy—in the Preflight
dialog, click Options to open
its menu, and choose Edit
Preflight Droplet. Locate and
select the EXE file you want
to change to open the Edit
Droplet dialog, where you'll
find the same settings as
those shown in Figure 43a
with one addition. If you'd
like to save the droplet into
your Preflight profiles, click
Capture, select the Group
from the pop-up menu, and
click OK. When you've fin-
ished editing the droplet,
click Save to update it.

If you are involved in a group
project, using the same
criteria for processing files
can certainly save time and
decrease error. A Preflight
droplet is an independent
executable file that performs
a Preflight task that you
can e-mail or distribute as
you like.
