Transforming
Document Pages
Acrobat offers a number of tools you can use to manipulate the content of
a document. The techniques described in Chapters 2 and 3 show how to
combine elements from various documents and using different sources,
such as scans and Web pages.
Combined or merged documents can include all or select pages from
a document, but what if you aren't sure what you need to use in a project?
Or if you change your mind as you are working? In this chapter, you'll dis-
cover methods to combine and manipulate the contents of documents
by substituting pages from one document for those in another.
Once a document is complete, you can further enhance it by add-
ing structure. In this chapter, you'll also learn how to balance page sizes
through cropping, and add page numbers to the document using stan-
dard page or Bates numbering. You'll see how to add features that add
a cohesive touch, including headers and footers, and watermarks and
backgrounds. Finally, you'll learn how to save time by using automation
features you set up as batch sequences.
This chapter shows you how to build the content manually—check
out the new Flash-enabled Acrobat 9 Portfolio feature in Chapter 4 to see
how to use content from various sources and present it automatically.
