Tighten the two lock nuts (4).

Tighten the nut (1).

Torque wrench setting for wheel nut (1):
120 Nm (12 kgm).
Check chain slack, see page 78 (CHAIN

SLACK INSPECTION).
CHECKING CHAIN AND SPROCKETS
FOR WEAR
Check the following parts every 10000 km
(6250 mi). Visually inspect chain, front and
rear sprockets looking for:
√ damaged chain rollers;
√ loose chain link pins;
√ dry, rusty, warped or seized links;
√ exceeding wear;
√ missing O-rings;
√ exceedingly worn or damaged sprocket
teeth.
If chain rollers are damaged, chain link

pins are loose and/or any O-rings are
missing or deteriorated, renew the drive
chain and the front and rear sprockets
as a set.
L u b r i c a t e t h e c h a i n f r e q u e n t l y ,
especially if you find any dry or rusty
parts.
W a r p e d o r s e i z e d l i n k s m u s t b e
lubricated and repaired.
If this is not possible, have the chain
replaced at an
CLEANING AND LUBRICATION
The drive chain links are fitted with O-
rings that retain the grease inside. Use
t h e u t m o s t c a r e w h e n a d j u s t i n g ,
lubricating, washing or replacing the
chain.
Never wash the drive chain using steam
cleaners, high-pressure water nozzles or
highly flammable solvents.

Wash the drive chain with fuel oil or

kerosene. If the chain tends to become
rusty quickly, service more frequently.
Lubricate the chain every 1000 km (625
mi) and whenever it seems appropriate.
After washing the chain, let it dry, then
u
spray with aerosol lubricant for O-ring
chains, see page 116 (LUBRICANT
CHART).
CAUTION
The chain lubricants available on the
m a r k e t m a y c o n t a i n a g g r e s s i v e
substances which will damage the
chain rubber O-rings.
NOTE
Do not ride when you have only
just lubricated the chain. Centrifugal force
would cause the newly applied lubricant to
fly all over adjacent vehicle parts.
