Position the left spacer (10) and/or the
u
right spacer (11) into their seats with the
larger diameter facing away from the
vehicle.
CAUTION
Before refitting the wheel, make sure
the brake calliper (13) carrier (12) is
correctly in place. The carrier slot
should be on the matching peg (17) on
the inside of the right swinging arm.
Be careful when locating the disk to the
brake calliper.
Place the wheel between the two arms of
u
the swinging arm and over the support
(2).
WARNING
Do not place your fingers between
chain and sprocket.
Push the wheel forward and wrap the
u
drive chain (8) around the sprocket (9).
Fit the right (6) and left (7) chain sliders
u
correctly into their seats in the swinging
arm.
Smear a light coat of grease over the
u
total length of the wheel spindle (5), see
page 116 (LUBRICANT CHART).
WARNING
Do not attempt to align the holes by
putting your fingers inside or you will
risk severe injury.
Pull back the wheel until the hub bore
u
matches the swinging arm holes.
Rotate the carrier (12) complete with
u
brake calliper (13) - it will pivot around
the locating pin (17) - until matching the
holes.
Push the wheel spindle (5) fully home
u
from the right side.
NOTE
Make sure the wheel spindle (5)
is fully in and that spindle head locates
correctly into the seat in the left chain slider
(7).
Fit the washer and screw the wheel hub
u
nut (3) finger-tight.
Check chain slack, see page 78 (DRIVE
u
CHAIN).
Tighten the nut (3) to the specified
u
torque.
Torque wrench setting for wheel hub
nut (3): 120 Nm (12 kgm).
Make sure the following components
u
have not become contaminated with
lubricants:
√ tyre;
√ wheel;
√ brake disk.
CAUTION
After refitting, work the rear brake lever
r e p e a t e d l y a n d c h e c k f o r p r o p e r
operation of the brake.
We recommend having the vehicle
inspected at an
aprilia
make sure that all components are at
the correct torque and that the wheel is
properly centred and balanced. Failure
to do so could result in severe personal
injury.
