BASIC OPERATION
I
Dial lock function
The dial lock function prevents accidental changes
caused by the tuning dial.
➥ Push [LOCK] to turn the dial lock function ON and
OFF.
• "LOCK" indicator lights while the dial lock function is
activated.

I Basic transmit operation

D Transmitting

Before transmitting, monitor your selected op-
erating frequency to make sure transmitting
won't cause interference to other stations on
the same frequency. It's good Amateur practice
to listen first, and then, even if nothing is heard,
ask "is the frequency in use" once or twice, be-
fore you begin operating on that frequency.
q Push [PTT] (microphone) to transmit.
• The [TX] indicator lights red.
w Release [PTT] (microphone) to return to receive.

D Maximum output power

q Push [POWER] for 1 sec. to turn power OFF.
w While pushing [LOCK], push [POWER] to turn
power ON and enter initial set mode.
e Push [MENU] one or more times to select "
," if necessary.
• [M-CH] or [Y]/[Z] can also be used.
r Rotate the main dial to select the desired maximum
output power.
• Maximum output power is selectable "0.5," "1," "2.5," "5"
or "10."
• Default setting is "10."
t Push [POWER] to turn power OFF, and ON again.
