7. INSTALL BATH/WHIRLPOOL
A. INSPECT SUBFLOOR
Before installing, make sure the subfloor is level. If it is
not level, some shimming of the bath and pump will be
necessary.
NOTICE: Do not hang the whirlpool by the rim.
NOTE: If using the optional K-1311 apron,
additional height adjustment may be required. See
the apron installation instructions.
B. SET-IN WHIRLPOOL

Option For Using Gypsum: Spread a 2" (5.1cm)
thick layer of gypsum cement on the floor where the
bath is to be set. This will help secure, level, and
support the unit. Set the bath into position. Clear
any excess cement from the vicinity of the pump.
NOTE: Pump base must sit flat on the floor.
Insert the drain tailpiece into the trap. Make sure the
whirlpool is level and resting on all support blocks.

Set unit into sunken installation. Make sure the bath
is level and is resting on all support blocks. Insert
the tailpiece into the trap. Apply a bead of silicone
sealant under rim of the bath.
CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Do not
support weight of bath unit by the rim. Provide
support under the feet on the whirlpool's
underside. Do not use drywall plaster as a means
of support. Do not hang unit by rim.
C. PUMP BANDING STRAP CUT
NOTICE: This step is necessary to make your
Kohler whirlpool operate more quietly.

Use tin snips to cut the two banding straps. These
banding
straps
secure
whirlpool-mounted shipping bracket. When the
banding straps are cut, the support base and pump
will drop about 1/2" (1.3cm) until it rests upon the
subfloor. If the pump drops more than 1/2" (1.3cm),
be sure the proper pitch is maintained (with shims
under the motor) to allow the pump to drain through
the suction line when the whirlpool is drained.
