The number of plies indicates the
number of rubberized fabric lay-
ers in the tire. In genera l: the

tire can carry . Tire manufacturers
must also specify the materials
used in the t ire . These include
stee l, nylon, polyester and other
materials .

Accessory weight
means the comb ined we ight (in
excess of those standard items
which may be replaced) of auto-
matic transmissio n, power steer-
ing , power brakes, power win-
dows, power seats, radio, and
heater, to the extent that these
items are available as facto ry-in-
st alled equipment (whether in-
stalled or not) .
Aspect ratio
means the ratio of the height to
the width of the tire in percen t .
Numbers of 55 or lower indicate a
low s idewall for improved st ee r-
ing response and better overa ll
handling on dry pavement.
