Periodic maintenance and adjustment
NOTICE
EN
Brake uid can damage painted sur-
faces or plastic parts. Always clean
6
up spilled uid with water or suitable
detergent immediately.
As the brake pads wear, it is normal for the
brake uid level to gradually go down. A
low brake uid level may indicate worn
brake pads and/or brake system leakage;
therefore, be sure to check the brake pads
for wear and the brake system for leakage.
If the brake uid level goes down suddenly,
have a Keeway dealer check the cause be-
fore further riding.
Changing the brake uid
Have a Keeway dealer change the brake u-
id at the intervals speci ed in the periodic
maintenance and lubrication chart.
Chain slack
The chain slack should be checked before
each ride and adjusted if necessary.
To check the chain slack
1.
After stopping the engine, place the
vehicle on a side stand on a horizontal
surface and with the gear in neutral.
2.
Measure the drive chain slack as
shown.
10 – 15 mm
Drive chain slack:
10 - 15 mm (0.4 - 0.6 in)
6-22
3.
After running the rear wheel forward,
check the chain free play: it must be
constant.
4.
If the chain slack is incorrect, adjust it
as follows.
NOTICE
Using the motorcycle with the chain
in bad condition and badly adjusted
may cause accidents.
If you notice any operating anoma-
ly on the chain, such as excessive or
suspicious noises, or excessive slack,
go to an authorised Keeway work-
shop.
If you suspect that there is a serious
malfunction with the chain, stop the
motorcycle immediately and con-
tact your nearest Keeway authorised
workshop.
