he bias and equalization of the G24S/G16S is adjusted for Ampex 456 or equivalent tape as shipped
from the plant. he amplifier must be readjusted if other types of tape are to be used.
Approximately 30 minutes of record/playback are possible with Wie G24S/G16S on a ten inch reel of 50
micron tape (Ampex 456) at 38cm/sec. tape speed.
o load the tape, first attach an empty reel to the right side reel spindle, and the reel containing tape to
the left side. hread the tape as shown below, making sure the tension arms are up. Lightly take up the
slack by winding the reels. If the tape is slack the transport will not operate.
OTE
If you are using a " master winding" technique (also known as " tails out"), Wie tape will be loaded in the
opposite manner from the above method.
