9. Troubleshooting Guide

Attaching the rubber cap

Attach the rubber caps to both the front carriage and rear carriage.
IMPORTANT!
Be sure to turn off the printer before this operation.
Be sure to check the identification labels on the rubber caps before attaching it. Be careful
not to attach the cap that was on the rear carriage to the front carriage or attach the cap that
was on the front carriage to the rear carriage. Doing so will mix the ink and enhancer,
causing a malfunction.
If you are not used to installing the rubber cap, such as when installing it for the first time,
first practice installing/removing the rubber cap without adding cleaning liquid. After that,
please practice installing/removing the rubber cap with cleaning liquid and check if it is
installed correctly with the cleaning liquid in place.
Please be careful not to touch the encoder sheet or guide rod. If you touch the encoder
sheet and get dirt on it, wipe off the dirt. For details, see page 174 "How to Clean the
Encoder Sheet".
When you attach the rubber caps to the rear carriage, do so without adding any cleaning
liquid. Attaching the rubber caps with cleaning liquid may cause nozzle clogging and a
malfunction.
