Editing Access Point Names

When and where to use: When network information needs to change, the user can edit the Access
Point Name (APN) information. The user can follow this procedure if a new SIM card is added that
does not have the required APN configured.
NOTICE:
Many service provider Access Point Names (APNs) are pre-configured in the LEX device.
If a SIM card has the required APNs configured already, see
Button on page
57.
Note that APN edits using the local User Interface (UI) will be overwritten by your agency
administrator. APNs created in the local UI are non-secure. If you misconfigure or not enter
APN for one of the SIM cards (private or public), switching to that SIM card will cause problems
due to failed registration attempts.
The user is responsible for possible APN definitions errors, including possible incorrect
emergency settings. If APN definitions are incorrect and the device cannot attach to LTE upon
UI APN update, the user may use the Reset to default option, located at Settings → More →
Cellular networks → APNs → Reset to default, which reverts the device to the staging APN
configuration.

8 When finished, tap → Save.
9 Tap the radio button next to the new APN name to start using it.

Adding a Virtual Private Network (VPN)

VPN enables the LEX device to communicate data across a public network while benefiting from the
functionality and security of a private network. A virtual private network (VPN) extends a private
network across a public network. When connected by VPN, the LEX device establishes a virtual point-
to-point connection through a dedicated virtual tunneling protocols or data encryption. The LEX device
enables connection to Basic VPN to communicate through any VPN and to Motorola Solutions Mobile
VPN (MVPN) to communicate through Motorola Solutions mobile VPN. This section describes adding a
