Traps are unsolicited administrative messages generated by SNMP agents
on the network. The keyword traphost defines the host to which SNMP
traps are sent. For the Annex to generate traps, one or more trap host
addresses must be defined in the gateway section of the configuration
file along with the SNMP community string. All generated trap messages
use the first community string defined in the configuration file (if the file
does not contain a community string, the Annex defaults to public).
You can specify up to ten static trap hosts in the configuration file, but
each host requires a separate line. Specify the trap host using its IP address
(RFC 1157 provides more details on communities and traps). Table B-12
describes the supported SNMP traps. The syntax is:
snmp traphost ipaddr

Trap Description
coldstart Upon initialization of the SNMP agent at boot time.
link-up Upon initialization of each network interface.
link-down Upon de-configuration of any network interface.
Defining the Contact String
The keyword contact defines the object that identifies the person
responsible for managing the Annex, as supported by MIB-II. The syntax
is:
snmp contact string
The string can include information about how to contact the person; e.g.,
M. Law, x 370.
