Setting up for surround sound (EV51DVD only)

Choosing your surround
sound settings
(EV51DVD only)
To get the best possible surround sound from
your system, make the settings below. This is
particularly important when using Dolby
surround. You should only need to make
these settings once (unless you change the
placement of your speakers or wish to
change one of the settings for a particular
disc). Refer to the following pages for details
on each of the settings.

1 Press STANDBY/ON (
power on.
The STANDBY indicator goes out.
2 Press SYSTEM SETUP (SHIFT+DVD
SETUP).
3 Use the (cursor left/right)

buttons to choose the option you want
to adjust.
It is easiest to adjust each of the settings in
turn, following the order below. The current
setting is shown for each option as you cycle
through the display.
Front speaker distance setting (page
34)
Specify the distance from the front
speakers to the listening position.
Center speaker distance setting (page
34)
Specify the distance from the center
speaker to your listening position.
Surround speaker distance setting
(page 34)
Specify the distance from the surround
speakers to your listening position.
Dynamic range control setting (page
34)
Compress the dynamic range of the
sound track.
Dual mono setting (page 35)
Select the channel(s) you want to listen
to from a dual mono disc.
