Using the timer
• You can check the timer settings in
standby by pressing TIMER/CLOCK
ADJ. If you've already set the record
timer, those settings will be shown first,
followed by the wake-up timer settings.

Turning the wake-up timer on/off

If the wake-up timer is active, it will switch on
everyday at the time you have set. Here's
how to turn it on or off:
1 Press TIMER/CLOCK ADJ.
2 Use the buttons to select WAKE-
/
UP.
On the front panel use 4/1 and ¡/
¢.
3 Press ENTER.
4 Use the buttons to select TIME
/
(or TIMER) ON or OFF.
On the front panel use 4/1 and ¡/
¢.
• You must have the timer set (see
previous page) to select TIME ON. The
wake-up timer switches on and off
according to your previous settings.
5 Press ENTER.
WAKE-UP and the timer indicator (
in the display when you select TIME ON.
• The wake-up timer will automatically be
canceled if the clock is reset.

Setting the sleep timer

The sleep timer switches off the system after
a specified time so you can fall asleep
without worrying about it.
• If you set the sleep timer while either the
wake-up or record timer is active, the
earlier switch off time takes priority.
1 Press SLEEP (SHIFT+6) to select a
switch-off time.
Press repeatedly to switch between:
• AUTO – System switches off 1 minute
after the current source has finished
playing. You can only set this during CD,
MP3 or tape playback. CD/MP3 repeat
play and endless play (for tapes) does
not work with the automatic sleep timer.
• SLEEP 90 – system switches off after 90
minutes
• SLEEP 60 – system switches off after an
hour
• SLEEP 30 – system switches off after 30
minutes
• OFF – cancels the sleep timer
When the sleep timer is on,

2 To check how much time is left, press
SLEEP.

The remaining time is displayed momentar-
ily. Don't press SLEEP again while the time is
displayed or you'll switch the sleep timer off!
